Long Beach Uptown jazz Festival

Written by on October 10, 2020

One of the most anticipated community festivals returns to Long Beach in the virtual space on Sunday October 18 as District 9’s Councilman Rex Richardson presents the Ninth annual Uptown Jazz Festival. The theme for this year’s free community concert is “The Best of Uptown,” highlighting fan favorites from past Uptown Jazz Festivals. Festivities will be conducted virtually, and the production will also include appearances from several special guests.

While the festival has grown to attract tens of thousands to Houghton park, COVID19 restrictions has the District pivoting to the digital space. At Beach City Radio, we are so proud of this community as they embrace the vailable technology to continue presenting the best live and local music. “Every year, the Uptown Jazz Festival brings us together to enjoy some of the best live performances our city has to offer, and 2020 should be no exception,” Richardson said in a statement.

“This year, we’re presenting the best of Uptown, celebrating the people, the businesses, the landmarks, and the artists that make our community special,” he added. This year’s virtual lineup will be hosted by Mr. Quick and feature some of Uptown Jazz Festival’s past fan favorites, including; Philosophy, DW3, Biscuits & Gravy Live, Susie Hansen Latin Band, Boxcar 7, Tatiana Tate Quartet, She Wears Black and J Boykin & Positive Vibes.
